The Effects of These Earthquakes

There were many effects of these earthquakes. These included loss of life, damage to property and huge damage to the economy.

The death toll of these earthquakes ranges from 3 (1992 Landers earthquake) and to over 3000 (1906 San Fransisco earthquake). I think that the reason for the 3000 plus deaths was because in 1906 the people didn't have the technology or the warning of the earthquake coming. The damage to property was terrible. The clear devastation of earthquakes today can be seen in this photograph.

The damage to property can be very serious, for example in Haiti all of the government buildings have been destroyed. Also when earthquakes happen it can take about 4.4$ billion to repair the damage caused. This can lead to huge damage to the economy as local governments have to pay for the damage caused as well as the whole of the country.

The San Andreas Fault is one of the most well known Fault Lines in the World. It has been responsoble for many of the earthquakes in Califorina. The line is between the pacific plate and the north american plate.

The northridge earthquake was one of the worst earthquakes in california. It hit california on the 17th January 1994. The 1992 Landers Earthquake also hit California. This shows how badly affected California is by earthquakes every year.
